INCLUSIVE DESIGN STRATEGIES: Gardens for all

Bella D'Arcy Reed introduced the topic by explaining accessibility challenges in the gardens and public landscapes.

In the Landscape Talks public lecture series Bella D'Arcy Reed gave the audience a fascinating talk about the accessibility challenges in the gardens and public landscapes. Using a wheelchair more than a decade didn't stop Bella to work as a successful garden designer and visiting landscapes around the world, but also she started to realise how difficult it can be to access places independently. Designers need to talk and listen to their clients and understand what their needs are and what is the easiest way to do things in the landscape.

MA and BSc students and staff came to listen Bella's talk in the main hall.
Inclusive design strategies need to be included in all landscape design schemes with a creative and innovative approach to increase the accessibility and achieve gardens for all.
