The Landscape Institute Travel Award is awarded from a fund set up in memory of David Ashmore, Adrian Brunswick and Michael Norton, three landscape architects who were tragically killed in an air crash at Biggin Hill on 13 January 1989. A legacy was added to the fund on the death of Mary Mitchell in December 1988.
The fund provides for an annual award for which student members of the Institute may apply. The aim is to provide applicants with an opportunity to travel which might not otherwise be open to them. Travel should be extracurricular, focusing on a specific topic of interest. It can be in the form of a study-specific trip, or extension of existing travel arrangements for the purpose of study.
In 2012 the amount offered for the award is to a maximum of £750. The closing date for applications will be Monday 30 April 2012. Applications will be reviewed by a panel convened by the LI’s Education and Membership Committee and the winning applicant will be notified by 31 May.
